Durban is a blend of Zulu, Indian, and post-colonial influences. Styles are Victorian, Art Deco, and modern as many of the older structures have been replaced. Founded by the British in 1849, the city appeals to tourists because of the beautiful beaches, the love of sports, and the beautiful botanical gardens.
